Carfax will cost you $ unless you go to a dealership.
If you are at a dealership, you can request a copy of a free carfax report of a car that is in their lot, and they have to give it to you.

A car dealership has no obligation to provide you with a Carfax report just because you asked for one. It is a service some dealerships provide, not all of them do and it is not mandatory.
Pay for the report yourself.

No such thing exists. CarFax or AutoCheck are the most reliable, but they will charge between $ 25 -$ 40 for a report. However, many dealers will give you a free history report for a vehicle THEY are selling–many also have them available on their websites.
